There have been some recent reports about Apple’s upcoming AR/VR headset.Now, according to the company’s open-source code, the new product will be paired with proprietary software called realityOS.A reference to “realityOS” (via MacRumors) was found in App Store uploads and Apple open source code on February 9, 2022, and is likely built for its rumored AR/ VR-based headset.In fact, Apple is working on a mixed reality-based wearable that will reportedly launch sometime in late 2022 or 2023.And the iPhone maker is working on at least two AR-based gadgets.One is said to be an AR-based Apple Glass, while the other will be a mixed-reality headset that supports augmented and virtual reality.In other words, realityOS could be the platform for both products.Speaking of head display, it reportedly has two Apple Silicon-based chips that can output Mac-like performance to help switch seamlessly between AR and VR modes.”ROS” is likely to be a platform for users to interact with, similar to tvOS and watchOS.Recently, Apple CEO Tim Cook hinted that the App Store could soon be full of AR-based apps.So we can even expect these products to connect to the metasverse.
